Winter Garden Plaza Development Project
Development Progressing
The Jamestown Renaissance Corporation partnered with R.W. Larson Associates, P.C., Bloomquist's Landscaping, R. Patti Excavating and Concrete and the City of Jamestown to turn a vacant theater into a public plaza.
The JRC took ownership of the Winter Garden Theatre in 2010. After successful asbestos abatement and demolition, the organization aimed to recreate a public space that attracted the public. Like Renaissance Square, the Winter Garden Plaza creates a greater experience in a lively, attractive and cohesive urban environment.
Side wall repairs to the adjacent buildings marked the beginning of site redevelopment.
R.W. Larson was contracted for architectural and construction drawings – detailed in two phases. Bloomquist's Landscaping and R. Patti Excavating and Concrete led the $175,000 Phase I construction project, which includes a 5,000 square foot public space for daily pedestrian use and programmatic activities.
The plaza featured three nights of film this summer and fall. Lucille Ball 100th Birthday Celebration patrons enjoyed two nights of Lucy-themed screenings in early August. The JRC ran Cool Hand Luke in late September.

The Wine Cellar courtyard expansion project was completed in 2012. Since its completion, the WIne Cellar has hosted local musicians.
Meanwhile, the Active Artists Alliance has used the entire plaza for its Third Thursday event--which features local artists and musicians. Jamestown NOW also utilized the space for its inaugural Great Jamestown Sauce-Off.
